There was a time when pirates battled over the subconscious of their host, a time when you could go into your room and find yourself transported into the deepest depths of the ocean. Alas, the 21st Century was the gateway to the future, and unfortunately we left many things behind in our mass exodus to computers. Chiefly we left our desire to read. When there were no televisions or video game consoles reading was perhaps the most loved hobby.
The Loss of Reading, and Other Things
With the loss of reading, the masses lost a part of themselves, they lost their imagination. Along with their imaginations they lost a plethora of other skills. Did you know that a child who loves to read has a higher IQ than one who doesn't. Also, they are more creative, and score better in grammar and vocabulary? We decided that sitting on our rear ends and having stories shown to us on the television is better than reading our own stories.
My Conclusions
I have concluded that if we, society, decided to read, we would have a larger vocabulary. We would also have greater imaginations, better writing skills, higher IQ's, and a better quality of life. I believe that if everyone would read for 30 minutes every day, that we would be able to create a better society for our children, and ourselves. I found a website that has tons of facts on the effects of reading. I hope you find this post interesting and helpful. Comment!
