Eragon, By Christopher Paolini

Eragon the Dragonrider

Eragon is a book for the fantasy lover. It combines all the necessary ingredients: Magic, Folklore, Dragons, Lovely Ladies needing rescuing, and of course, battles of epic proportions. This story is strangely reminescent of  "Star Wars", and "The Lord of the Rings." The story is about a young farm boy named Eragon who finds a strange stone one day while hunting. This "stone" turns out to be a dragon's egg. it hatches for Eragon creating a bond between him and his dragon, allowing them to share their thoughts with each other. This makes Eragon the last known free Dragon-Rider. All other dragon riders have perished or been tortured into service of the evil Lord Galbatorix. Eragon is taken under the wing of the folklorist Brom. Who teaches him everything that he knows, while keeping a haunting secret. The first book in the Inheritance Cycle is the story of Eragon maturing from a farm boy, into the Savior of the Resistance against Galbatorix. This book is an excellent example of what teenagers can do given the chance. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who has become discouraged about writing. I would also reccomend reading it just for the sake of reading it. This book is a great read, filled with action, adventure, and an engrossing plot that makes you wonder what will happen while knowing that the good guy will always win. The book has been made into a major motion picture by 20th Century Fox. The book was published by Alfred A. Knopf, and re-released August 26th, 2003.

Eragon is an amazing book.

I highly reccomend reading this book.
