The Origin of Fantasy Books

Lost World Fiction

Fantasy Fiction as we know it has only existed for two or three centuries. It was first published as Lost World fantasy. Lost World Fiction Was a genre of book where a world, or civilization, had been lost, or hidden for centuries eons, and was found. The genre became widely popular during the era when many ancient civilzations and cultures were bening unearthed throughout the world. This genre is depicted very well in the Indiana Jones Franchise.

Beginning of Fantasy

As Fantasy Fiction was developing through Lost World Fiction, it was also developing through the Romantic style of fiction. In Romantic Fiction, Fantasy was widely accepted, however some believed the stories to hold truth, because the stories were so believable, they are not considered Fantasy Fiction so much as they are sappy love stories. I don't like to read Romance, so I'll stop talking about it. I find Fantasy entertaining as well as thought provoking. When reading fantasy you have to throw away a certain amount of reason. Fantasy has become a huge portion of book sales world wide. I hope this article helped you learn a little something about my favorite genre, Fantasy.

Elf Realm The Low Road

Elf Realm: Plot

Matt's father is a developer who is opening up family-owned land for a new neighborhood filled with homes he is building. The land has a mystery attached, Matt's father and sister disappeared there 30 years ago. No one knows how or why

Synopsis.

Human development has destroyed the boundaries between elves and humans. The Elves have begun to war against humans AND each other. Matt and his sister Becky become a part of the treachery when Matt steps on an elfs wedding shoe barefoot one day. With this act, the elves begin to enter the everyday life of Matt and Becky and try to destroy all the machines that Matt's father brings in to clear and develop the land. They do this to preserve their land and The plot is rather convoluted as different elf kingdoms and even religions fight among themselves in the elf realm, all the while trying to wage another war of sorts with Matt's family and humans in general.

Well here's my take

The book stinks don't read it Because the book is part of a trilogy, the ending is not a solution to the problems of Matt and his family or the elves.  Why Matt's family can see the elves when no one else can is a mystery that destroyed my interest in the book. The Language used is strange, convoluted, and messed up my mind. Finally the book was weird, messing with the general perceptions of elves, humans, and trolls. It was a whole new world I didn't want to see! However it was a rather entertaining book.

Eragon, By Christopher Paolini

Eragon the Dragonrider

Eragon is a book for the fantasy lover. It combines all the necessary ingredients: Magic, Folklore, Dragons, Lovely Ladies needing rescuing, and of course, battles of epic proportions. This story is strangely reminescent of  "Star Wars", and "The Lord of the Rings." The story is about a young farm boy named Eragon who finds a strange stone one day while hunting. This "stone" turns out to be a dragon's egg. it hatches for Eragon creating a bond between him and his dragon, allowing them to share their thoughts with each other. This makes Eragon the last known free Dragon-Rider. All other dragon riders have perished or been tortured into service of the evil Lord Galbatorix. Eragon is taken under the wing of the folklorist Brom. Who teaches him everything that he knows, while keeping a haunting secret. The first book in the Inheritance Cycle is the story of Eragon maturing from a farm boy, into the Savior of the Resistance against Galbatorix. This book is an excellent example of what teenagers can do given the chance. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who has become discouraged about writing. I would also reccomend reading it just for the sake of reading it. This book is a great read, filled with action, adventure, and an engrossing plot that makes you wonder what will happen while knowing that the good guy will always win. The book has been made into a major motion picture by 20th Century Fox. The book was published by Alfred A. Knopf, and re-released August 26th, 2003.

Eragon is an amazing book.

I highly reccomend reading this book.
